We offer a couple of different options for patients with anxiety. We offer nitrous oxide, which is also known as laughing gas, that can just help patients feel more relaxed. This option allows patients to come into our office, receive the laughing gas, and then also drive home the same day. We also offer two sedation options. We offer oral sedation, where you take a pill before your procedure. You do have to have someone drive you home, but it allows you to be more relaxed during the procedure. We also offer IV sedation, which can make patients even more comfortable and relaxed for that.
Because every case of dental anxiety is unique, we provide three different forms of dental sedation. If you need help relieving your anxiety about the dentist, we will discuss each sedation dentistry option with you before we proceed with any treatments.
Nitrous Oxide Dental Sedation
Nitrous oxide is a gas of nitrogen mixed with oxygen that you inhale through your nose using a small mask. You’ll feel the effects almost immediately as your stress melts away and you drift into a mild euphoria.
Our caring team will precisely control your level of sedation and carefully monitor you throughout your visit.
Oral Conscious Sedation
We can also provide oral conscious sedation in the form of a pill. At a predetermined time before your visit, you will take the pill so you will arrive at our Houston, TX dentist office fully relaxed.
You will feel calm and comfortable throughout your visit. It may take a while for the effects to wear off, so someone will need to drive you to and from our office.
IV sedation is the strongest form of dental sedation we offer. We will carefully monitor and adjust your level of sedation during your visit so your treatment will be comfortable.
While you will remain conscious so we can communicate with you, many of our patients don’t remember a thing!
As with oral conscious sedation, you will need a trusted friend or family member to drive you home.
