Relieving Dental AnxietyDr. Hanna Lindskog on relieving dental anxiety Read Transcript
With patients with a lot of dental anxiety, we do our best to first educate the patient and make them feel comfortable in our office before even performing any procedures. We go over everything that we're doing. We try and identify to them what communication method works best with them. If they like lots of detail, we provide all of that detail and make sure that all of their questions are answered before we perform any procedures. If they have anxiety about the procedure itself still after answering all of those questions, we can provide sedation options for them as well as we provide music that they can listen to while the procedure is being completed and movie glasses as well.
Do you dread visiting the dentist? Have you even canceled or skipped an appointment at the last minute? If you’re ready to experience your first stress-free dental visit, contact Houston Uptown Dentists – we’ll help relieve your dental anxiety! Our Friendly Team
When you enter our spa-like dental office, our calming, soothing team will greet you with warm smiles and listen to your particular concerns. We understand that it’s not a matter of simply “getting over” your dental anxiety – we’re here to help in any way we can!
To help you relax and entertain you during your visit, we can also provide headphones with calming music or 3-D video glasses equipped with Netflix.
Whether you’re visiting us for a regular dental cleaning and exam or a more substantial cosmetic dentistry or restorative dentistry procedure, we can provide extended appointments so you won’t feel rushed.
We can also help you relax with a variety of dental sedation options. Our dentists and team members have been carefully trained to safely and effectively administer sedation.
Because each patient is unique, we offer multiple types of dental sedation, including:
- Laughing gas: your anxiety will quickly melt away as you inhale this gas through a small mask
- Oral conscious sedation: at a predetermined time, you’ll take this dental sedation in the form of a pill so you’ll arrive for treatment fully relaxed
- IV sedation: this is the strongest form of sedation we offer; you’ll instantly feel its effects, and we will carefully control your level of sedation during your visit
