Schedule Your Kids’ Checkups Now Before School Starts

Preventative Orthodontics For Kids 1 | Houston Uptown Dentists

Now is the perfect time to schedule your kids’ checkups. Why? Because before you know it, school will be back in session and your schedule will probably become a lot more hectic.

The kids will have homework they’ll need help with, not to mention the added extracurricular activities and other events that are bound to pop up unexpectedly.

Do yourself (and your kids) a favor and get them in before school starts back. You’ll thank yourself for this later on!

In case you and your kids are new patients at Houston Uptown Dentists, below we give you some detailed information on what you can expect during your first visit to our friendly dentist office. If you have any questions or if you’d like to make an appointment, just give us a call at 832-463-1021 and we’ll be glad to help.

Know What to Expect

When you and your child come in for their visit, you can expect to be given the red carpet treatment. Our staff goes out of their way to make our dentist office as friendly and relaxed as possible.

But that’s just the beginning of what you can expect. Your child will receive a comprehensive dental exam to check for any problems lurking in their mouths. Not only will we visually check for cavities, but we’ll also use the DIAGNOdent cavity detection system that can catch minute traces of decay not visible to the naked eye.

We’ll also use the VELscope system to check for any signs of oral cancer so that early treatment can be provided if necessary. Your child will also receive a full set of X-rays using our digital X-ray equipment. This advanced technology will only expose them to a fraction of the radiation that standard X-ray equipment produces, giving you more peace of mind about their health.

We’ll even show them (and you) a tour inside their mouth using an intraoral camera. That’s not something that every dentist office offers!

After their exam, our dental hygienist will carefully clean and polish each of their teeth, paying special attention to all the nooks and crannies that your child might miss when brushing and flossing at home. Afterward, their teeth will sparkle and they’ll have that clean-mouth feeling that only comes from a trip to the dentist!

We Offer a Variety of Treatments to Keep Their Smiles Healthy

Depending on the results of their dental exam, we may recommend one or more treatments to help your child maintain a bright smile.

Dental sealants are thin plastic coatings that form a protective barrier on their teeth against disease-causing bacteria. In essence, sealants act like “raincoats” for their teeth, helping prevent the chewing surfaces of their teeth from developing cavities.

We may also recommend fluoride treatment or varnish. Fluoride has been proven to strengthen tooth enamel, helping the teeth become more resistant to decay. It can even reverse early-stage tooth decay when applied directly to the teeth.

If you have an aspiring athlete on your hands, you’ll want to talk to us about getting them fitted with a professionally made mouthguard. According to the American Dental Association, athletes who don’t wear mouth protection are 60 times more likely to suffer a dental injury than those who do.

When your child’s smile in on the line, you want the best protection possible. Our mouthguards will fit better, feel more comfortable, provide better protection, and hold up better than store-bought appliances.

Make it easy on yourself and schedule your kids’ checkups now before they’re back in school. Call Houston Uptown Dentists today at 832-463-1021. You can also request appointments using our online form.
